Abstract

The traffic control system deployed over Metropolitan Expressway has been upgraded by introducing a wide range of information media and systems with faster process speed, from message sign boards to the Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS), since the system was automated in 1973. As the highway network is being enlarged, more alternative routes become available to drivers. The advanced information is requested for effective use of the complex highway network, a safe and comfortable driving environment. This paper shows an attempt of a quantitative evaluation on the effect of providing traffic information. (A*)
