Abstract

In 1984, a pilot study was carried out to investigate the disturbance of breeding- bird populations of poplar woods and willow plantations by road traffic. The study shows that woodland breeding- bird populations along heavily travelled roads are obviously affected. The most clear are the effects on the breeding density, lower close to the road. The noise level is a suitable dose parameter for preparing dose- effect relations.
