Abstract
From 1984-1987 public transport fares have been (and will be) increasing. This might cause a shift in mode use. SWOV has tried to examinate the safety consequences of this change in modal-split. At first a rough estimation is made of the number of persons changing from public transport to other modes. Secondly the changes of traffic accidents in the different situations are compared. It can be concluded that his fare policy will influence traffic safety in a negative way.
