Abstract

In order to gain more insight in the factors associated with car ownership a survey is carried out among households that had recently purchased a car, without trading in an old car. The study was carried out in two stages. At first the most important motives for the purchase of the car were determined. In the second stage the effect of the purchase of the car on the activity pattern of the household was studied.
