Abstract

A review of the literature relating highway lighting to crime and traffic safety, covering modern methods and specification of highway lighting and relating energy use to highway use is given. As part of the research a computer program was developed which can predict visibility on arterial streets based on lighting and road geometry pavement reflectance characteristics and luminaire distributions
