Abstract

The Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System Research Association (AHSRA) is conducting research and development on Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway Systems (AHS) on contract for the Public Works Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction, Japan. It is crucial that the impact of AHS, which is a new system, be evaluated in advance. Therefore an AHS traffic simulator was used to conduct evaluations of accident reduction rates. This paper presents the evaluation methods and results from simulations of the effects that position detection sensor accuracy has on the impact of AHS. This evaluation was conducted in order to verify the appropriateness of the AHS system design.
