Abstract

This paper describes some investigations into the effect of imposing speed limits on road outside urban areas in the United Kingdom with a view to reducing the number of accidents and the severity of injuries. An attempt is described to formulate a set of criteria of road in order to obtain the best balance between traffic delay and accident data.
