Abstract

A sudy on the effectiveness of lane control signals is reported. Results produced evidence that use of a red X to indicate nonuse of a lane was best, rather than a red ball or a red arrow or the prohibitory slash over an arrow. Similarly a green arrow pointing up to indicate lane use was found to be better than other means tested. A discussion is added.
