Abstract

During peak periods almost 10% of the traffic stream are auto-utility trailer combinations (a car pulling a house trailer, boat trailer etc.). The additional loads could result in a more rapid accumulation of equivalent axle loads, thus reducing the fatigue life of the pavement structure. Possible methods of restricting the operation of such vehicle combinations are outlined.
