Abstract

This study investigates the impacts of the contraflow bus lane on bus riderships by time series analysis. The study focuses on one bus line having insignificant changes in the route structure before and after the implementation of contraflow bus lanes. Monthly ridership data for the bus line were collected. Box-Jenkins modelling techniques were used to forecast the ridership that would have resulted if the contraflow lane was not implemented. A comparison between the forecast ridership and actual ridership was conducted. The effects of the contraflow bus lane on ridership are identified through results of the analysis. It is shown that the ridership of the bus line assessed here had been increased about 28.9% after implementation of the contraflow bus lane. (A)
