Abstract

Seven different pavement types, ranging from asphaltic concrete, open-graded and dense-graded, to cement concrete, with various surface textures, were required to be tested to obtain the relative noise from the interaction of tires on those pavements. Three methods were chosen, and these are discussed, together with an assessment of their respective merits and the overall results. This paper appears in transportation research record no. 1312, Energy and environmental issues 1991.
