Abstract

A program of testing to evaluate the effects of seasonal climatic variations on pavement deflections as measured by the Benkelman Beam has been carried out. A statistical analysis of the data shows that ambient temperature as such has no effect on the subgrade. However, rainfall and evaporation appear to have a marked effect on the strength of the subgrade although the relationship is complex.
