Abstract

Results are presented of an extensive study of the effects of inflation pressure and tyre construction on limit turning performance. The importance of these tyre-in-use factors is assessed through a methodology consisting of tyre-testing, simulation of limit maneuvers, and vehicle testing. The mixing of tyres that are not of the same generic type, brand, aspect ratio, and size can degrade the directional response of passenger cars in limit turning maneuvers.
