Effects of zonal traffic regulation in residential areas.

Abstract

In this decade, major urbanised residential areas have been covered by the zonal traffic regulation to improve traffic safety and environmental condition. This type of regulation is one of the major recent traffic regulation types in Japan and applied to a neighbourhood unit which includes one or two elementary schools of 10- 20000 people.Some zones were analyzed by the before- and- after comparison or with- and- without comparison method and some interesting result about the effects of zonal regulation were obtained.
