Abstract

Traffic and friction studies were carried out in order to examine the friction increase resulting from sanding, the durability of this friction increase, and the speed adaptation made by road users. Road sanding has resulted in, on the average, the increase of the coefficient of friction by 0.09; the increase of speed by 2.4 km and the decrease of the stopping distance by 8 m.
