Abstract

This study indentifies significant differences between the accident pattern of the elderly driver (65 and older) and the accident pattern of the norm (drivers of all ages) and considers various countermeasures to reduce elderly driver accidents which were found to be significantly high. Various types of accidents for four accident factors (movement preceding collision, primary collision factor, type of collision and lighting) were analyzed.
