Abstract

Characteristics of present-day U.S. buses are reviewed, with emphasis on the excessive weight unbalance, cost, noise and exhaust of the bus combustion engine. Possibilities in electric bus designs that eliminate the engine and its irritants are presented. Design and cost features of an all-electric bus system are discussed in view of current and developing battery technologies.
