Abstract

Practical applications are being developed to use intelligent transport systems (ITS) to improve transport services. Many of these applications require payment from vehicles while they are in motion. However, the existing electronic payment scheme is not efficient. In this paper, the authors propose a new electronic ticket scheme that can process tickets fast enough to meet ITS requirements. Their scheme incorporates the use of timestamps and location information stored in tamper-resistant devices such as smart cards.
