Abstract
By the extensive use of electric vehicles major disadvantages of the present motorized road traffic, like the production of exhaust fumes and noises, can be eliminated. We may also become more independent from one specific type of primary energy. Therefore there is much international activity around the electric vehicle, although there are some problems at its introduction. This article concludes with an overview of the international activities and attention is being paid to the design of an electric city car by the Technische Hogeschool at Eindhoven.
