Abstract

Electric vehicles can be a real contribution in the decrease of noise and air-pollution. The possible decrease in air pollution is more effective even with small quantities of conversion than for sound pollution. This is because of the linear dependency between traffic concentration and air pollution, and the logarithmic dependency between traffic concentration and noise. Essential for the further development of electric vehicles will be e.g. the price of oil, the will to reach a bigger independency of oil supply, and the political intention to decrease air pollution in the urban environment.
