Abstract

A state of the art report of Emergency Escape Ramps for Runaway Heavy Vehicles (EERRHV) technology, findings of a current questionnaire survey, and an overview of existing ramp facilities in regard to design, construction, and practical techniques are presented. Several existing emergency escape lanes are described, listing many of the benefits and shortcomings of each.
