Abstract

The importance of an emergency telephone system is clearly emphasized. The set- up of this system is the target of the Jurgen Pegler Lifesaving Foundation. They want to have an emergency telephone installed at three kilometer intervals along all major roads. In the FRG, 31, 400 kilometers of federal highways often run through uninhabited areas or bypass villages and towns on purpose. These roads require a minimum of 10, 000 emergency telephones, which roughly equals an investment of DM 70, 000, 000.
