Abstract

In the pursuit of providing excellent services to its expressway customers, PLUS Berhad has sought the assistance of the Royal Malaysian Police force to form an Expressway Mobile Patrolling Vehicle (EMPV) unit stationed along the expressway to specially cater to expressway safety matters. It has created PLUSRonda - a 24 hours patrolling team to assist breakdown and accident cases; constructed layby, rest and service areas for the relaxation and convenience of its expressway customers; upgraded existing road furniture; developed traffic management and recently formed a Helicopter Unit for surveillance of traffic flow along the expressway. Landslide tragedy in 1996, had taught PLUS Berhad the need to develop a comprehensive safety plan. This has led to the creation of its Disaster and Recovery Plan Procedure for speedy, efficient and comfortable assistance and recovery from disaster.
