Encouraging safer cycling.

Abstract

Encouragement programs in Australia are discussed by firstly looking at the engineering, technical and quantitative dominance of bicycle programs. Common statements in cycling literature about encouragement are discussed. Sixteen current Victorian programs are outlined in detail and then the paper tackles the question of how safer cycling can be encouraged The need for a data base on which to hang qualitative behavioural programs is discussed.
