Abstract

The energy consumption of a battery vehicle equipped with a direct- current traction motor is analysed. This motor is coupled to the wheels through a torque converter and automatic transmission. The vehicle consumption is compared to that of an electric vehicle with armature chopper-control of the traction motor. Computer simulations are performed on the mathematical models of both vehicles.
