Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board 1842 describes how future technologies may improve fuel consumption of heavy-duty trucks; analyzes alternative forms of automotive fuel economy standards; summarizes the New York Greenhouse Gas Task Force recommendations for reducing the impacts of transportation on global warming; and considers transitions to alternative fuels and hybrid engines for light-duty vehicles. The papers contained in this volume were among those presented at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2003.
