Abstract

Two sets of operational rails which have been carried out to investigate particular aspects of battery electric vehicle use, in comparison with more conventional petrol or diesel engines vehicles, are described. The main conclusion from the energy use trials are that, is primary energy terms, the battery electric vehicle was more efficient than the petrol vehicle at very low average speeds.
