Abstract

This paper will focus on 24-hour vehicle immobilization to prevent a continuation of an offence and/or re-offence of impaired driving or other alcohol-related driving infractions. The paper describes the legislation as it applies to vehicle immobilization; provides a brief description of mechanical vehicle immobilization; describes the objectives of vehicle immobilization; describes the program operation; and provides conclusions and general comments about the program.
