This paper describes the highway design integrated program system as developed jointly by the county surveyor's society and the ministry of transport. The programs are considered in various groups and combinations such might be required for particular types of road improvement schemes. Details of input data and output data are given and attention is drawn to any shortcomings limitations in the programs. Particular emphasis is placed upon the participation of the engineer in the use of the latter. The final design is a result of this skill in preparing the data and the use of the program.
