Abstract

In this paper some characteristics are described of the external and work-home traffic in an evening peak hour, and their influence on the traffic situation in the amsterdam agglomeration in general and in the old town in particular. Trip production per 1000 working places of persons travelling by car per relation from the old town to different destinations is derived from survey results. For the agglomeration it has been established which categories of car drivers contribute to the external car mileage in the agglomeration. The survey results of 1974 are compared with model results for 1975 and 1985. Finally an indication is given of ways in which these characteristics can be used for the solution of some problems. (Author/publisher) this paper was presented at the working days on traffic engineering 1981 (see IRRD abstract no 255833) but is not published in the conference papers.
