Abstract

This paper is a presentation of methods and results from a project, in which the danish ministry of the environment and Haderslev, a municipality of 30000 inhabitants, co-operated over a period of 2 years. The aim was to emphasise ways in which people in their everyday life are influenced by environmental aspects of the traffic. In the project the new source of information is detailed interviews with 21 families. The interviews are used as an addition to "classical" planning data and analyses. The information from interviews and planning data is used to suggest solutions for environmental and traffic problems - solutions which aim to improve the everyday life of the population. Many of the decisions concerning environment and traffic are made in the municipalities, and it is therefore important to ensure that the background for the decisions includes knowledge of the consequences for people's everyday life. The final report is relatively short - 55 illustrated pages - and aimed for politicians and planners working with town planning and traffic planning. The working papers total more than 1000 pages, including the interviews, they have been published in a limited issue. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 290118.
