Abstract

This paper attempts to establish the environmental conditions that are countered by high four wheel drive cross country vehicles. For each particular environment the author outlines the likely areas of difficulty and point to the safeguards which have to be taken. The paper also discusses the possible attitude of the vehicle. Consideration is given to the water, fuel and oil requirements for the vehicle. Operating terrain is discussed and its relationship to approach angle, departure angle, ramp break over angle ground.
