Abstract

More than 300 towns on the Danish highway network have problems caused by through traffic. In 1981 the Road Directorate published " Main Roads Through Towns- A catalogue of ideas" where a new method was introduced - environmentally adapted through roads. Priority is given to the environment, pedestrians and cyclists. It attempts to reduce the feeling of insecurity and the accident risk. A conversion was made in three plot towns. One was Vinderup with 3000 inhabitants.
