Abstract

The need for better statistics, including medical knowledge of traffic casualties as an instrument for preventive work, is recognized by many authorities and scientists. The hospitals seem to think that the consequence would be a considerable amount of additional work if they had to register the cause of illness. Thus, accident studies based upon medical statistics have mainly been concerned with fatal injuries or they have consisted of investigations during a limited time applied to specific problems.
