Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the epidemiology of bicyclist's collision accidents and identify risk groups of bicyclists and risk situations. Data from the emergency room in a 2 year period wascombined with data from questionnaires. The study group consisted of 1, 021 bicyclists injured in collision accidents, and 1, 502 bicyclists injured in single accidents were used as a reference group. The young bicyclists 10-19 years of age had the highest incidence of injuries caused by collision accidents. Preventative methods for decreasing accidents are discussed
