Noise barriers alongside the road are dangerous obstacles To find out if the sideway bending of guard-rails in front of noise barriers with little distance between provided sufficient passive protection, for lorries as they do for cars, as was found out in earlier collision-tests with cars, three tests were done. The test with the car proved again satisfactory, but the two tests with lorries resulted in substantial damage to lorries and noise barriers as well as danger to the vehicle-occupants. Additional protection, f.i. concrete or other material to prevent the vehicle from touching the noise-barrier could be a remedy.
