Abstract

Vehicle load measurement is an important technology in ITS. For public authorities, load measurement using by-pass stations or other facilities has been proposed to enable warning of overloading, enforcement of regulations, and possible linkage with traffic management systems like electronic tolling. The vehicle load indicator by Yazaki Corporation is an in-vehicle device for load measurement. Due to the physical constraints for sensor installation and methodology for sensor adjustment, there is still an obstacle to practical application of the vehicle load indicator. In this report, an error correction technique using Fuzzy Logic for accuracy improvement in vehicle load measurement is considered.
