Abstract

The paper reports upon the scope and results attained in the first phase of the Italian pilot Project "Gestione Integrata delle Emergenze" (Emergencies Integrated Management - hereinafter referred as E-CALLS), targeted upon the experimental implementation of a service for the road transportation emergencies management, requiring the activation of medical, fire departments, or constabulary entities. E-CALLS is framed within the CORVETTE Euro-regional project (Coordination and Validation of the Deployment of Advanced Transport Telematics Systems in the Alpine Area), and is part of the initiative of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation aimed at the modernization of the national infrastructure for the management of emergency in transportation.
