Roadside observation surveys of belt use in Canada were conducted in 1975, 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1981. Combined results of these surveys, showing how driver's belt use has changed over the period covered are presented. Overall, the national average us increased from 14% in 1975 to 42% in 1979, after which it appears to have slightly declined.
