Abstract

Approximately one fifth of all journeys to and from work in urban areas are made by bicycle. The strong development of motorism has, however, been an obstacle in bicycle trafficability. A general principle is to lead cyclists on to tracks which are safer but longer. The project shows that cyclists have a positive attitude towards the tested system of informations, but it is very different to change habitual behaviours and make cyclists prefer safety before the absolute shortest route.
