This article presents the study of a rider's emotions during initial training in real context. The aim is to identify the types of emotions and characterise their conditions of emergence during training. In a "situated" approach, three kinds of data were recorded at each riding 90 session of one trainee during all his training in a French motorcycle school: continuously recorded audiovisual data of the rider's behaviour, verbalisation data and physiological data, for every moment of riding in real context. The results allow to (1) identify the emotional range of the rider, constituted by twelve different emotions: surprise, fear, shame, deception, anger, impatience, worry, frustration, satisfaction, relief, pride, sense of injustice, (2) underline the omnipresence of these emotions in the whole training process, (3) describe the emergence dynamics of each kind of emotion during training. These results are discussed in terms of the design of motorcycle training devices and road safety progress. (Author/publisher)
