Abstract

EuROPE-TRIS is a project developed within the 4th EU-RDT Programme and co-funded by DGXIII- Telematics for Transport sector. TRIS means Teleconferencing Railways Information Systems and is part of a larger initiative, i.e. EuROPE (European Railways Optimisation Planning Environment), which aims to study, develop and experiment new prototypes and telematic/information technology tools in order to help European railways in their evolving needs for international co-operating tasks, such as: (1) access-to-infrastructure and line capacity management; (2) timetable planning; and (3) contingency planning. These issues are mapped onto project architecture, which is made of three sub-system modules respectively acronymed TCM (Traffic Capacity Management), TTC (Timetable Tele-Conferencing) and TTM (Timetable TeleMarketing).
