Abstract

The Netherlands Transport Research Centre (AVV) of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works commissioned DHV Environment and Infrastructure to study the effects of the Central Planning Bureau (CPB) 'European Renaissance' scenario on road traffic and public transport in the Netherlands for the year 2010. This study was based on: (1) socio-economic data concerning the 'European Renaissance' scenario; and (2) policy principles of part D of the Second Structure Scheme on Traffic and Transport (SVV IID). Projections for road traffic and public transport were made using the Randstad model. Simultaneously, a comparison was made with similar calculations concerning the standard CPB middle scenario for socio-economic data. The analysis shows a clear, but not alarming, influence as a result of the new scenario on regional mobility.
