Abstract
The European Road Statistics has become a publication of reference providing decision-makers, stakeholders and practitioners with an unbiased and reliable overview of road transport. The publication of the The European Road Statistics 2004 coincides with the historic expansion of the EU. More than ever, reliable and comprehensive data are required to support effective policy-making. This year's edition sees an extension of the scope of topics and countries covered and offers an insight into five case studies covering safety, road user charging and the economic contribution of road transport.
