Abstract
ERF is delighted to present the 2006 edition of the European Road Statistics. In the framework of the mid-term review of the 2001 European Commission Transport White Paper, it is fundamental that an unbiased and reliable overview of road transport is made available to decision-makers, stakeholders and transport practitioners. Acknowledging this fact, we are proud the present the fifth edition of this statistical handbook, showing the true extend and the value of the road sector in Europe's society and economy.
