An evaluation is made to quantify the quality of the traffic accident registration. Therefore a study is made to show if the quality of the nowadays registration could be improved by the introduction of a new traffic accident registration, based on statistic forms made up by the police and the damage registration forms (carnets) made up by the insurance companies. The carnets did not meet the needs for 100% and the period in which the test registration in the province of Utrecht was held was not representative as an average period due to the energy crisis and weather conditions.
