Abstract
This SVT report deals with the evaluation techniques to be used for intersections with traffic signals. The evaluation gives a comparison, for many different aspects, between the actual situation and the aimed situation. The evaluation criteria have been divided into four main groups: safety, level of service, public transport and environment. The aspects within each group are described and the useful knowledge up to the present time is given. Much is not known sufficiently however. A second phase has been planned to make the study complete. This preliminary report will be followed by the final report after the completion of the supplementary research.
