Abstract

In this report the results of an evaluation study of the effects of the new Dutch Motor Vehicle Driver Instruction Act are presented. In the Motor Vehicle Driver Instruction Act the required competences to offer driving instruction are laid down. On January 1995 this new act (WRM 1993) came into being. The revised legislation imposes stricter requirements on driving instructors. The intention of the WRM 1993 is that by enhancing the quality of instruction (i.e. instructor training), a better driving education can be offered to candidate drivers, one that is appropriate to the requirements as imposed by the current Dutch Road Traffic Act.
