Abstract

Separate injury prediction equations developed for unrestrained, lap belt restrained and three-point harness protected automobile occupants are to be applied to a national accident type and severity profile in order to estimate the reduction in death and injury which could be expected for any given level of restraint usage. This paper reports the method used to develop the injury-prediction equations and the equations which have been developed for side and rear collisions.
