Abstract

Statistics and charts are presented which indicate the effectiveness of safety belts in a workshop report of mandatory usage legislation. Data are given on: the effectiveness of warning or reminder systems in increasing belt usage, comparing vehicles with light-and-buzzer systems to those without; measured usage in rental cars; vehicle occupants killed; safety belt rate use by trip distance and use related to city size and to job and education.
